Prehistoric Planet, Season II on Apple TV.

We were not looking for this, but we turned on Prehistoric Planet on Apple TV and it was amazing and fascinating.

If you have seen the BBC’s great documentaries, most narrated by David Attenborough, you have seen great views of the Earth and it’s inhabitants.  Many I have obtained on 4K discs, including Planet Earth and Planet Earth II, Life, and Blue Planet.  On these discs, Attenborough usually does not just show and explain the environment and it’s creatures, he creates a story around them. So all of a sudden you ae rooting for the prey to escape the predator, although a predator will die if he does not feed. They are just beautiful stories, told well and you learn so much.

Well, the same techniques ae done in Prehistoric Earth, a five-part series, on Apple TV.  The images, which must be CGI, look incredibly real.  The dinosaurs, the scenery, and other species look like they were really photographed. The angles of the photography look like the ones from the previous “real” documentaries. And, of course, he tells stories as if they know their creatures.

The visuals of the 4K apple presentation ae stunning at first.  Yeah, every once in a while it did not look perfect, but most of the times it did.

Highly Recommended.

At some point, I have to subscribe to Apple TV. I just need to find time.

Started watching this a few weeks ago and it was nice. Haven't had time to continue past the first ep, and it's competing for our viewing time with other similar shows narrated by Attenborough. Seems like he's only gotten busier in his... what, 110s? ;D
