Honestly, it's a great film. Either watch on a 16:9 screen or do what I do and watch it in scope and push the not needed top subtitles off the top. You won't miss a thing. Kind of like when I lock those shape shifting movies to 2.40:1 and I
don't miss the 2 or 3 IMAX scenes at all!

Audio:  The disc features an Atmos soundtrack if you select the German language version.  If you can’t stand reading subtitles, you’ll be stuck with a DTS-HD 5.1 mix.  Don’t do it, or you’ll be missing out on a fantastic use of Atmos, one that actually uses wides(!), along with tops.  This one of the best Atmos mixes I’ve ever experienced, with great placement of sound, a full soundstage, and excellent directional cues.  Bullets, bombs, planes, and other battlefield sounds are effectively used to pull the listener into the movie.

Thanks for this info. I was debating which soundtrack to watch, so this makes it easier to go for German and read the subtitles.

I got this movie, but still finding the right time/mood to watch it.

Although Memorial Day is an American holiday to honor our soldiers that gave their lives in combat, and this movie is about the German troops that some of those very soldiers fought against, the somber nature of the movie does fit the holiday quite well.  The movie doesn't dwell on the reasons for the war, but it's more about those who fight and how devastating the battles can be.

Just something to think about.
