First: No spoilers
In the 4k set of Star Trek: The Next Generation we just saw “Insurrection.”
Once again, we really enjoyed this. I am repeating myself but… the image looked better than ever. The picture was incredibly sharp, the colors were spectacular and the blacks and whites were outstanding. The Dolby TrueHD 7.1) was so absorbing and well done, you felt totally immersed in the movie
The movie was really well done with good performances and an interesting plot, although it has little to do with a Insurrection. In some ways, I felt that this was more of an extra length TV episode of Star Trek than a movie because there isn’t great character development but a very involved singular story.
Star Trek Picard:
While I am reviewing a Star Trek Movie series and now a streaming show, I don’t really consider myself a “Trekkie” because I have NOT liked a lot of what has been produced. This includes “Enterprise” and “Discovery.”
What I do NOT like about many streaming shows, is that they not individual episodes but 10 hour movies. That is, in a regular a Star Trek movie, the first 15 minutes will introduce the characters, Picard will try to convince someone to do something unconventional (this takes ten minutes) and the ship will be in danger for up to 20 minutes.
Earlier,it took Picard 50 minutes to convince Guinan to do something. In this series, the ship was in danger for an hour and it has taken a few hours to introduce everyone. Okay.
Starting with the sixth episode, where everything is put in place, it started getting real good. And now it is an homage to not just the cast, but to the fans. The eight episode did surprise me, but not as much as the ninth. Yeah I can nit-pick on a few things but it was worth sitting through the first five to get to this
