We have Marantz Cinema 50 receivers in stock. This receiver has the capability of assigning each output to be used in preamp or power amp mode individually making for the ultimate flexibility with external power amps. Contact Craig, Mike or myself for more information.

That is a feature that, in my opinion, has been missing from AVRs. This is especially true given how many manufacturers list their AVR's power ratings (usually with only 2 channels driven).

It's a must have feature in my opinion. I use an amp for the front mains in my theater.

I feel the same way. I run a dedicated HT preamp and outboard amplification on all my channels and have for many years. However, that feature sure would open up a lot of possible configurations especially if the Marantz's internal amps will redistribute the total power to the used channels. I assume it will.

+1 on the amp channel reassignment feature. I would consider an AVR to replace my surround processor if I could use it to replace the SSP + 8 channel amp used for 4 surround and 4 height channels.

The economies of scale for AVRs usually mean you have to spend a good bit more for an SSP. Now that Denon/Marantz have Dirac Live available that has me mulling a future swap.
