My brother and I have always had good experiences with Marantz.
About 2014 I bought the Marantz 7009. About two years later, it failed. I sent it back to Marantz who informed me that they no longer had parts for that machine and they sent me a brand-new 7011! Which was great.
A couple of years ago my brother got the anthem 1140. We didn’t like it. While it did surround sound very well it did not do two channel audio from our SACD, streaming and FM very well. Also, the controls did not always work on the machine, we had difficulty switching from one input to another. So my brother got my Marantz 7011 and I got the Marantz 8015.
After a lightning storm a month ago the Marantz 8015 unit failed, along with all the cable boxes and Wi-Fi in my house. While Verizon fixed the other items, I sent my Marantz unit into repairs. It doesn’t go to Marantz, apparently it goes to United Radio.
I got the unit back after three weeks and I figured it would take us several hours to hook up. An hour or so to attach will the wiring, another hour to put in all the settings, and little time to make sure that the universal remote was working. However when we unpacked the unit enclosed with the remote control was a thumb drive. The drive contained a file called “config.” We install that into the Marantz and it restored all my previous settings, which now match the universal remote, so it took several hours off of our reinstall.
There was no charge for this and he got it back pretty quickly. And this is a great unit. We use it for our upstairs system.
