Studio: Sony / Netflix
Release Date: June 14, 2022
 Rating: PG-13
 Film:  4/5

 Plot
Kevin Hart stars in a heartwarming true story about a widowed dad who copes with doubts, fears, heartache and dirty diapers as he sets out to raise his daughter on his own.

My Thoughts
For some odd reason, I just can’t seem to get enough of Kevin Hart and I’ve been seeking out as many of his feature films as possible—maybe I should seek therapy? Anyway, In Fatherhood he shows how his range as an actor is starting to widen. Sure, he can play the wisecracking sidekick with the best of them, but does he have the acting chops to carry a film? In this case, the answer is a resounding yes.

He plays a widowed father who losing his wife shortly after the birth of his daughter. Loaded with grief and self-doubt about raising a kid on his own, his stubborn nature makes him roll up his sleaves and get to work. As expected, he faces a lot of challenges along the way and these create many laughs, but it’s the more dramatic moments that really make the picture work and Hart does a great job of conveying the frustration and emotional turmoil that the single Dad has to face.

The film was originally shown on Netflix but for some reason my homepage on the service never highlighted the film as being available. Regardless, the presentation on Blu-ray is excellent. The film was shot digitally and presents a very clean and crisp image and the audio track is about what you’d expect from a dramedy.

Video 4.5/5 (AVC)

 Audio 4/5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

 Special Features:
  • Theatrical Trailers

 Conclusion
Surprisingly, the movie made me tear up on multiple occasions, which was surprising from a Hart movie. You really can feel and empathize with the struggles he faces and become emotionally invested in the outcome. If you’re looking for a great “date night” movie, this is it., but bring some tissue along—you may need it. Highly recommended.

Did you see it? BTW...it's Hart, not heart. Although the movie did have a lot of both (Hart and heart :D).
