Plot
 Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back where he doesn't belong, this time going "deep, deep, deep undercover" to stop a gang of international munitions smugglers. Also returning are Judge Reinhold and John Ashton as Murphy's crime-busting sidekicks, ready to unleash blazing gunfire alongside rapid-fire gags.
 
 
My Thoughts
 Beverly Hills Cop made Eddie Murphy a superstar in Hollywood, and you knew that a sequel would be in the works. To helm the project, the studio hired Tony Scott, who was just coming off the wildly successful Top Gun, and the film reached theaters shortly before my 18^th birthday in May 1987. As expected, the film was well received by audiences and earned over $150 million at the box office and was the #1 film in 1987.
 
The film itself isn’t as good as the first, but is entertaining and it’s nice to see the trio of Foley, Taggart, and Rosewood back together again. The story has more scope than the first film with more action scenes, a bigger and more villainous bad guy, and of course, a lot of humor due to Murphy.
 
Paramount has done a fantastic job with the 4K release and I’ve never seen the film look better. Colors really pop and the image has phenomenal depth and detail. The soundtrack is the same from the previously released Blu-ray, so no upgrade in this department.

 Conclusion
I’m a fan of the first two films of this franchise mainly because I grew up watching Murphy’s career morph from a fantastic stand-up comedian to one of the biggest stars of my generation. His humor is on full display in this film and while it doesn’t have the magic of the original, it’s still wildly entreating and looks fabulous in 4K. Recommended for fans.
