2022 NFL Draft
«

1st round is done. How'd your team come out? It was an odd first round. Only 1 QB taken, at #20 - long time since the first QB went that low. Nobody was sure who would go #1.
For my teams of interest:
Saints traded up from 16 to 11 to take Olave, WR from OSU. Then at 19 took Penning, OT from N Iowa. That's pretty much what they were pegged as wanting to do but it cost a lot since they traded several other picks to move into both of those picks.
Bengals took Dax Hill, S from Michigan. Seems like a very solid pick for them since they completely revamped their awful OL in free agency.

This year's draft is supposedly one of the deepest drafts in years, due to many college students last year opting for a 5th year due to Covid. Deep draft, but no names that casual draft observers are too familiar with, especially since supposedly no "elite" quarterbacks.

It was said to be a deep but not top heavy draft with only around 20 players getting real 1st round grades. Still surprised that the usual QB desperation didn't prompt a team to over reach this year. Seems likely we'll see a bunch go in the 2nd, and I wouldn't mind seeing the Saints grab a guy like Corral if he's there at 49.

Seems crazy that there was only 1 QB taken in the first 2 rounds - not a single one went in the 2nd. NFL teams are not usually that disciplined! The guy many thought would be the first QB off the board, Malik Willis, didn't go until the 3rd, and not to a team talked about much in the QB market. I was actually hoping the Saints might grab Corral in the 2nd.
