Nobody's Fool, a good old movie

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your speakers;
I come to praise old movies, not to bury them
The DVDs that men do live after them;
The streaming is oft interred with their phones;

I would like to start a new “thread” so to speak.  I was inspired by David’s comments about, “Intolerable Cruelty,” a movie I never saw.

We do discuss new movie and movies recently released and Tracy mentions them in their lists.  But now, with discs, cable and streaming there are a great deal more movies to discuss.  We should put up some of our favorites.

For example, I wanted to first put a movie that David and his wife would enjoy. It’s called “Nobody’s Fool” a 1994 movie that stars Paul Newman as Donald "Sully" Sullivan; Jessica Tandy as Beryl Peoples; Bruce Willis as Carl Roebuck; Melanie Griffith as Toby Roebuck and for the first time I saw him, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Officer Raymer.

This is just a charming, funny, serious movie with wonderful, quirky, performances from everybody. Newman plays a man, living in Tandy’s house, who is a  bit of a loner and the story revolves around how he re-establishes himself with his family, his neighbors and himself.

When Bruce Willis was a huge action/adventure star, he would take roles as a supporting character provided they did NOT promote him in their advertising.  He is terrific here as so is Melanie Griffith who plays his wife.

Catch this if you can.
