Hello, new here from Texas as well.

Hello, new here from Texas as well.
« on: March 30, 2022, 02:00:14 PM »
I recently moved to DFW area in Texas in January.  We where fortunate to find a house that checked most of the items on our list including a dedicated media room.  It has a platform riser with two steps, the room is 20Lx12.5Wx10H and a good size for two rows of three chairs.  I am in the process of building my first home theater with projection.  I've had other systems mainly family room home theaters with large screen TVs and couch seating.  This will be our first with projection and theater seats.

I'm sorry to say I had to fire my installer because of two red flags that came up and why I am here on the AVS forum.  First red flag, I discussed what I needed purchased and installed with the owner.  I requested a JVC NZ7 projector and a few other items.  I get a quote back and it was priced for an NZ7 (pricing is comparable to AVS) but it listed the NX7 in the quote.  I e-mail back and they responded it was a mistake and corrected the item and the description, price stays the same.  OK so that could have been an issue if I was a novice who didn't doublecheck or research the quote.  We get a scheduled date for the install, they then e-mail a readiness checklist for the install.  I replied back with some photos and more info about what's been done so far.  I get an e-mail back saying my projector won't be available until sometime May and they will install a temporary loaner.  I got upset, this was the first I was hearing of it.  Considering not long after I approved the quote with the corrected NZ7, I got a message they would have the projector in a week but my install was 2.5 weeks out due to schedule of other jobs.  Within a few hours I am calling AVS speaking with Mike and my order is on its way.  After that second ordeal, I had enough and requested a refund which is now becoming another issue.  I paid with my debit card and still waiting on a refund.  I'm waiting the 3-10 business days and if I don't see the funds, I'm going to write a review.  I was not, because it could have just been unfortunate mistakes on their part but when you are quoting large sums, you better get it right.

Hopefully the drama is all over soon, I get my RS2100 (NZ7 equivalent per AVS) and the other items installed.

Thanks, so my entire order from AVS has arrived and installed.  I couldn't be more pleased.  The mounting plate, pole and bracket Mike recommended was easy.  I'm very happy and excited to get this home theater up and running.

Great stuff, and really nice setup there.

Are those Mirage OM series for the surrounds? I used to run OM-R2s before I moved to Atmos.
