JVC Laser NZ7/RS2100 - JVC AutoCal

JVC Laser NZ7/RS2100 - JVC AutoCal
« on: December 16, 2021, 06:47:08 AM »
Dear All,

Just ordered the NZ7 to replace my Sony VPL-VW550es (675es US Model). Hope this will be a substantial upgrade over the Sony. Since this is my first JVC was wondering if the JVC AutoCal software will work on the lasers as the website shows the NX as the last models.? For Sony calibration I was using i1 Display Pro with HCFR, now I had to buy SpyderX pro to work with JVC software. I have read that it is only good at doing gray scale and Gama, but very bad at color calibration. Would your suggestion be to first do the calibration using JVC software (gama/gray scale) using SpyderX and then do the color calibration using i1 Display Pro using HCFR. I cant justify buying rea;y expensive meters that can do both well, also considering laser do not have bulb issues, color shifting etc. The part of the world I live in there are no professional calibrators that you can pay and get this done.

Apology if my questions are very basic, I am new to JVC and will greatly appreciate help.

Thanks

Read the autocal thread for the last generation projectors that Manni posted on this site, it will get you started on the right foot. You definitely want to do that Autocal before any manual adjustments because you'll be on much firmer footing. In regard to the color calibration, I wouldn't use the Spyder X unless you can verify its accuracy with a better meter. There's a thread over at AVS Forums on how you can use other spectros with the JVC software by adding some .dll files to the proper directory. Hopefully this helps.
