The question I have - are the IMAX versions all full 16:9, or is the movie going to see - saw back and forth in aspect ratio?

If these films really look better this way, why not just release them as 16:9 aspect ratio films? Nobody has a 1.90:1 screen at home anyway ( maybe somebody - but not many ).

Disney+ has a $1.99 offer for the first month of subscription if you want to give them a try.   Then cancel before the next bill cycle.

IMAX Enhanced on Disney+ | Disney+ (disneyplus.com)

What is IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio?
IMAX Enhanced content on Disney+ features an expanded aspect ratio of 1.90:1. This differs from most films where the picture appears wide but does not take up the full height of your screen.
IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio allows you to see up to 26% more of the original image and experience the full scale and scope of the picture from the comfort of your home or on the go.

Some movies only have selected sequences filmed in IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio.
Please note that other IMAX Enhanced features and functionality are not currently available on Disney+.

Some reports indicate that DTS will be added in the future.  But it won't be the lossless IMAX Enhanced variant of DTS:X.  I believe that FandangoNow used a lossy version of DTS:X for its IMAX Enhanced titles.

There was one Fast and Furious disc with lossy DTS:X that resulted in uproar from purchasers.

I suspect they will have some scenes that the aspect ratio will change. It's not really a new thing as some movies on Blu-ray do this already.

I believe some will be completely at 1.90:1.  Others at 2:35/2.39:1 with IMAX scenes expanding to 1.90:1.    Depending upon how much of the movie was filmed in IMAX format.

I think The Avengers and perhaps others have a 1.85:1 aspect ratio so those probably won't be changed.

Yup. That’s the best part.

also for those that use a lumagen you can lock the NLS so it’s not constantly changing the aspect

That's exactly what I do. Now, if a movie is 60% 16:9, I might watch it on my much taller 16:9 screen. Dunkirk is one that comes to mind. This is really just an advertising ploy on Disney's part. But nothing really new to see here.
