Carada Masquerade 2:38.1 screen with remote side panels

Can anyone suggest a home theater installer or anyone else in my area (Santa Ana/Orange County, Ca) that would be willing and have some knowledge of what to do?

Ralph,
I believe you are describing the Masquerade frame that is 16.9 due to your description of the top and bottom going up and down.

I have the 2.35.1 version with the top and bottom fixed and only the sides going in and out for the different ratios.

Does this change things?

It should be the same concept (in theory), but the side masking may be two individual units. You'd have to remove those and see what screen is underneath.

Yes. Works the same. Panels are just traveling horizontally, rather than vertically. Frame is still 6.25" in width. Carada had a cheaper frame that they used under the masking system, but I can't remember the name of the screen frame. That was what was used if you bought it all at the same time. You could also just buy the carada masking system to cover your existing frame. Just had to size accordingly. 

I know when I designed stewart screens to go under the masking system, I would use an odd screen ratio, so that the screen fabric extended well behind the masking system, so that you did not see the frame behind the masking trim.

...just an update: I purchased the Stewart GrayHawk G4 wall screen plus...the installer will do the following:
1) remove the Carada Frame
2) remove the Carada Screen
3) install the Stewart Screen
4) reinstall the Carada Masking System

I'v lived with the Carada screen for 7 years knowing it's problems and can't wait for the Stewart (the company rep. stated it would be shipped October 8th and that I should get it possibly the following week)...

Well, then, she's lucky!!

Question: the frame is the Carada Masquerade Frame is Cinemascope with a remote control for the side panels. Can the moter be oiled or lubed or some such thing? After all, I've been using it for seven years!

Resolved:

AV Science, Inc. told me to ask the installer, upon reinstalling the Carada frame, to first lubricate on the pullies and channels that the parts slide in. I assume that this will make it less of a strain for the motor to operate.

The remote for my Carada Masquerade 2:35.1 is sick and needs a doctor...some of the buttons do not work and I don't know how to fix it. I've tried to find an alternate remote but was unsuccessful. There appears to be a very, very small screw on the back side but I've tried three screw drivers but to no avail. (I thought this would open the remote).

Is there an alternative remote that would work?

Any help would be appreciated.
