It was a sad day when CRT manufactures closed their doors. Right when lots of new advancements were happening. Glad to see you guys hanging in there. Post some screen shots when you get a chance.
I spoke to TSE from VDC about this years ago. He said CRT didn't have any more secrets to uncover. It was a mature technology that had been vetted pretty good.
It depends on how you define development. Scott modified Marquees and Ampros for customer needs.I agree that Scott probably could have done some interesting things with a Marquee to adapt it to HD. I am not sure how much, as he said almost all IC manufacturing and development stopped like 15 years ago. As I am sure I have told both of you that he spent the last five or six years of the '00s trying to maintain the pedigree of the Marquee with what was available. Kind of like a CRT version of the Apollo 13 team.
Ill expect he have been under some financial preasure to do something as cheap as possible, or he would have taken advantage of late build ICs that is performing much better than the used ones, but it would have called for a new VIM design, and a retake of the 2008 neckboards, i doubt he was given the funds to do something like that.
