Plot
When her audition for an elite New York conservatory goes awry, aspiring violinist Finley Sinclair travels to a quaint Irish coastal village for a semester abroad program. At the B&B of her host family, she encounters charming heartthrob movie star Beckett Rush, who is there to film the next installment of his medieval fantasy-action franchise. As Beckett’s free-spiritedness helps Finley find the heart and passion that was missing from her music, Finley’s honesty inspires Beckett to pursue his true passion, and they discover that a change of scenery may be all they need to find themselves — and true love.

My Thoughts
I’m man enough to admit that I still enjoy the odd romantic comedy for the feel-good aspect that the movies provide. While the reviews of this were tepid, the audiences seemed to like it and I totally agree with them. While the story is hardly original, the cast is quite good and the chemistry between the relatively unknown leads is what makes this work. Furthermore, the performance from Vanessa Redgrave is outstanding.

The video is about what you’d expect for the genre, but I have to admit that the lush green landscapes of the Irish countryside looked very inviting. There are a few darker scenes that look a bit hazy, but the daytime sequences look great. The audio track is surprisingly good and the standout moments are when the score kicks in and with some of the live music scenes.

Conclusion
My wife and I had no expectations going into this and were wildly entertained. The film has some very emotional moments that are quite powerful, and we loved the leads as well as the supporting cast. The script is a bit predictable—as most films of this genre are—but overall, we found it to be a great way to spend the evening and a film we will definitely watch again in the future. Recommended for fans of the genre.
