Per the website, the X100 isn't what any enthusiast would consider "universal" as it doesn't support SACD or DVD-A. You have to step up to the X200 for that, and it's probably close to 4x the price of the Oppo 203.

I don't have any of those discs. What I want is a disc player that is bullet proof with 4K Blu-rays. Both my Oppo and my Panasonic UB820 have froze on discs on occasion.

Point taken. On the flip side, you have to give the manufacture a thumbs up for taking the financial risk when parts are more costly and hard to come by. I wish them luck. Shame Oppo did not ride it out.

Oh, for sure. I'm very pleasantly surprised anyone saw fit to do this in 2021, it's against the current but there's still a niche market especially for the high quality type gear. I look forward to reading some reviews of these players from pro reviewers and knowledgeable users in the coming months.

Appears to have a Source Direct mode like the Oppo.  So they should be good disc players for MadVR Envy owners.

Yeah, I think all you'd need to do is set 4:2:0 in this sub menu. This will give the Lumagen and Envy the opportunity to do the chroma upscaling instead.
