Plot
With a couple’s impending wedding as the backdrop, Love, Weddings & Other Disasters weaves multiple storylines as it follows the search for love by a colorful group of characters including: an inexperienced wedding planner (Grace) nicknamed “The Wedding Trasher”; a fussy celebrity caterer (Irons); his blind date (Keaton); and a tour-bus guide (Andrew Bachelor) looking for his Cinderella. How their lives and loves intersect is half the fun in this film that proves romance is alive and well…and as crazy as ever!

My Thoughts
This is one of those films that make me question my decision to continue to review movies aft 17 years. I swear the writers on this project had a brainstorming session and literally used every idea they came up with regardless of how well it integrated with the actual story. Many of the characters are completely unbelievable and frankly, I can’t see why Jeremy Irons or Diane Keaton would have even signed on to do this project unless they were really hurting for cash—as in “I’m on the verge of bankruptcy and I have no other choice.” I honestly can’t tell you how it ended because I turned it off at about the 30-minute mark. This train wreck wasn’t going to improve.

Conclusion
Some may argue I didn’t give the film enough time to render a judgement, but in looking at its 4% Rotten Tomatoes score, I’d argue I gave it too much time. There’s only one positive review and I’d seriously like to know what type of drug the reviewer was on to think this was a good movie—it really isn’t. Skip it.

I almost gave it 0 out of 5, but I did enjoy the cityscapes of Boston and the Duck Boat sequence (when we visited Boston in 2019 we took the same tour with Ralph Potts and his wife along with my family). It was literally the only enjoyable segment of the film.
