Plot
Adam (Charlie Plummer) is a witty, introspective teen pursuing his dream of becoming a chef. When Adam is diagnosed with a mental illness, he lives in fear of being exposed %u2014 until he meets Maya (Taylor Russell), an outspoken and fiercely intelligent girl who inspires him to open his heart and not be defined by his condition.

My Thoughts
My daughter recommended this movie to me and I%u2019m glad she did. Wow, what an experience! Mental illness is generally not a laughing matter, but this film takes a heavy subject and makes it relatable to everyone with a mixture of drama, humor, and love. It%u2019s based on the debut novel by Julia Walton and fallows the trials and tribulations of Adam, a senior in high school just trying to graduate so he can pursue his dream of being a chef. If you have kids of your own, you will definitely relate to his Mom%u2019s struggle with his illness and her willingness to do anything to make her baby well again.

The presentation is excellent all around and the audio track uses ample discrete effects to place you in Adam%u2019s mind. The video encode is what you%u2019d expect from a mainstream Blu-ray today, so no complaints from me in that department.

Conclusion
There haven%u2019t been a lot of feature films released this year due to Covid-19, but this is by far my favorite of the year. It%u2019s witty, fun, sad, and inspiring and it%u2019s definitely something I%u2019ll watch many times in the ensuing years. The performances are great all around and the chemistry between Plummer and Russell is genuine and believable. Highly recommended.
