 Plot
 Based on the groundbreaking best-selling book by Rhonda Byrne, The Secret: Dare to Dream follows Miranda (Katie Holmes), a young widow trying to make ends meet while raising her three children and dating her boyfriend (Jerry O’Connell). A devastating storm brings an enormous challenge and a mysterious man, Bray (Josh Lucas), into Miranda’s life. Bray reignites the family’s spirit but, unbeknownst to Miranda, also holds an important secret — one that will change everything. With its timeless messages of hope, compassion, and gratitude, The Secret: Dare to Dream is an inspiring and heartwarming film that shows how positive thoughts can transform our lives.
 
 My Thoughts
 New releases have been a rarity during Covid-19 and I wasn’t sure what to expect of this having never heard of it before. Wow, what a surprise. My wife and I absolutely loved its message and entertainment value. Sure, it’s a bit saccharine, but given the times it hit the spot. I was particularly impressed with the child actors as well as Holmes’ portrayal as the single mom struggling to get her life back together. Lucas’ character is a breath of fresh air as he tries to give perspective on life to the down on their luck family.

 Conclusion
 Given the horrendous reviews of this film on Rottentomatoes (28%), I didn’t think it would be any good, but count me among the 84% of viewers who actually liked it. In fact, I would say I loved it and will definitely watch it again. It’s rare these days that a film comes along that truly inspires me, but this one hit the mark. Highly recommended.
