A League of their Own
In the 4K Columbia Classic Collection a league of their own is one of the six movies. It is presented with Dolby Atmos.
I have always enjoyed this movie. The acting and story are interesting. It is about the Girls Professional Baseball League that was formed during WW2. The movie retains its relevancy but not ignoring issues that are even with us today.
The league, for example, wanted the woman to look and act a certain way that pleased me. The owners, managers and even the umpires were all men. And all white.
Penny Marshall, the director, did a wonderful job telling the story and getting us interested in the characters. But Ms. Marshall was no David Lean. The colors are a bit muted at the beginning until we get to the ballpark where they stand out. But there is no great scenery and, frankly, no great music or surround sound events. Ms. Marshall paid attention to the story although the locations looked authentic.
The 4k image is a bit better and sharper than the Blu-Ray and the Atmos does also add a bit at time. But if you have the Blu-Ray I see no reason to step up to the 4K disc.
