I am told by Krell that I need to get an HDMI (4K) extender to attach my HDMI to my JVC projector. Can you suggest a good one?

I have had the Krell 707 3D Preamp/Surround system for over a decade and had always gotten an excellent picture when connected to a JVC projector, with a 30 foot cable.

When I got my JVC 3000 projector I ran a direct, 4k cable to it from my Panasonic 9000 4K (input 2) and had no problem with that for a year.  The Krell was attached directly to input one with no problems. It had my “2K” inputs, TV and Roku.

This week I tried to attach my Krell 4K HDR switcher, which also required a system update.  After three hours on the phone with Krell, not getting a picture on the projector using the new switcher they suggested that I get a HDMI extender. We had attached the 4K Roku and the 2K Verizon Fios Cable box to the switcher and occasionally got a snowy image from the Roku and Panasonic but no image from the cable box.

So the Krell people said I should get a HDMI extender.  Do you know of a good one? Everyone here has been so helpful I really appreciate it!
I do not see how an extender is going to solve your problem. The problem is the krell is not HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2. When you were using the panasonic, you were only sending audio to the krell and it worked. But when you introduce the switcher, you are adding the krell to the video side and with it not being HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2, you will not get a picture.

I am assuming the Krell switcher does not spoof the signal so that the equipment does not get feed back that the Krell is non compliant?  So I question why an extender will solve your problem. Now an HD Fury Diva might work for you, since it will take three sources and pass the video to the projector and extract the audio and send it to the AVR.

Oh, I didn't even think to check to see if the pre/pro was HDMI 2.0 compliant or not. Good catch Mike.

Barry, if you're running the signal through the Krell that means there is an HDMI 1.4 bottle neck. If I were you I'd just run a cable from the back of the Panasonic 9000 to both your projector and Krell. The 9000 has two HDMI out ports. Just make sure you're using the dedicated audio HDMI port on the Panasonic going to the Krell. The HDMI ports are labeled.

Sure, you can call me at 585-671-2968, but the problem is connecting the krell onto the video side, since the krell is HDMI 1.4. If you keep the Krell on the audio side only, as in use second HDMI output on Panasonic, no issues. If you use a device that has audio extraction and works with HDMI 1.4, like what I suggested, it should work also. All sources would go to the HDMI switch. Video out would go to the projector. The HDMI switch would extract the audio and send to the Krell.

Barry, I thought you were already using one HDMI out from the 4K player to feed audio to the 707 and the other output went to your projector.

Is the Panasonic player your only 4K source?

That is correct. The projector had to HDMI inputs. Input one I have connected to the 707 and the second input to the Panasonic. However I would like to attach a Roeckel streaming stick and the cable box Halle will be updated to 4K. So I would like to have three 4K sources. What I think I have to do is get some sort of 4K switching box which has the video going to the projector but a second HDMI output that goes just into the sound or the audio of my 707

That makes sense. You don't need an extender then. But if the Krell HDMI switch doesn't work, that seems like a dud - especially for $1K.

Yes, one that not just has an HDMI output for audio, but one that extracts the audio, so that you no longer have an HDMI and HDCP restriction, when connected to the Krell. That is why I suggested the Diva.
