Studio: Lionsgate
Release Date: November 12, 2019
Rating: PG-13
Film: 5/5

Plot
Zak (Zack Gottsagen) is a young man with Down syndrome who runs away from a residential nursing home to fulfill his dream of attending the pro wresting school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church). On the road, Zak meets Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Together, they set out on a wild, life-changing journey to try and convince Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), a kind nursing-home employee charged with bringing Zak back, to join them.

My Thoughts
Over the past ten years or so, Hollywood’s best writers have seem to have gravitated to television and streaming platforms and frankly, there just aren’t that many good films released anymore. Fortunately, this one is extremely well done and my wife an I absolutely loved it. It has a ton of heart, characters that you can believe in, and frankly, fantastic acting from LaBeouf who turns in a career performance. In fact, I’ve never liked his acting in any previous film and I think he’ll get an Oscar nomination for this role—yes, he’s that good. This is a film that will make you laugh, cry, and leave you feeling happy when it runs its course.

Video 4.5/5

Audio 4.5/5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

Special Features:
  • Zack’s Story: The Making of The Peanut Butter Falcon
  • Photo Gallery
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Blu-ray+ Digital Copy

Conclusion
There have been very few movies that I give a perfect score to for their entertainment value but this certainly is one of them. I loved all of the characters and the story is fantastic. Definitely pick this one up because it’s the type of story that makes an impact on you and its something you’ll definitely revisit in the future. Highly recommended.

The Blu-ray was only $12.00 on Amazon. I might just wait for Black Friday next week to pick up a few of these.
