The Lion's Lair Theater Build

I took a small break for the holidays but I'm back at it. I finished all of my DIY speakers and think I have narrowed down my colors.

I got all of the MartySub V2 Roundover Series pieces unpacked and started putting them together.

I thinking I'm settling on the Tricorn Black for the ceiling, columns, chair rail. I'm thinking flat on the ceilings and semi-gloss on the column and chair rail. Going with Peppercorn for the walls. For the front of the columns I'm going to use the Slate from the Highbeams collection of GOM fabrics. The carpet is from a local flooring company. I'm about 85% sure I'm going with it.

Question: Has anyone used semi-gloss with Tricorn Black? Did you get alot of reflections/glares?

I don't know if I'd use semi-gloss paint. Flat usually is better.

If you're going to have a "tinted" black and not a "factory mix" black, use the flattest sheen possible. I'd recommend Benjamin Moore Scuff-X Matte with 12 ounces of black colorant. The durability of this product is off the charts good. I've been in the paint business my entire professional life and I've never seen a product perform like this. If you have wood molding, you could move up in sheen to the Satin (one level lower than semigloss).

Looks good - and you are getting closer. Painting is the fun part since you are almost finished with the heavy construction part !

Thanks! I am starting to see a break in the madness, because we all know it really never ends. :);)

Nice speakers and subs. Will be a very dynamic sound stage with that setup. Guests will be shocked at the performance of your room. :)

My GOM fabric for the columns was just delivered! It looks better then the small little samples they send. I'm super excited.

Paint is done. It turned out better than I thought it would. I also spray painted my can lights.

Last few days I started working on putting in my outlets and I installed my Atmos speakers. I also ordered my screen material because I'm doing a DIY screen and constructed my minimalist screen wall. Finally,  I scheduled my carpet install.

Thanks! I'm trying my best to not have any white visible in the room. :)
