Gloria Bell (Blu-ray) review

Gloria Bell (Blu-ray) review

Studio: Lionsgate
Release Date: June 4, 2019
Rating: PG-13
Film: 1/5

Plot
Julianne Moore stars as Gloria, a free-spirited divorcée who spends her days at a straitlaced office job and her nights at L.A. dance clubs. One evening, Gloria meets Arnold (John Turturro) — and finds herself in a new romance that shows her love can strike at any time.

My Thoughts
The critics at Rotten Tomatoes absolutely loved this film and it’s Certified Fresh with 91%, although the audience scores are a paltry 43%. Where does that put me? Somewhere below the 43% since I found this a tedious movie to get through—it literally took me several sittings to get through it. Yes, I get it, it’s a character study, but what happens if you can’t relate to the characters or their lives? It’s much too depressing and while Moore does a good job in the lead role, but in the end it really doesn’t have a point other than don’t get divorced unless you want to do drugs and have meaningless sex.
Video 4.5/5

Audio 4.5/5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

Special Features:

  • “An Extraordinary Woman: Making Gloria Bell
  • Audio Commentary
  • Blu-ray+ Digital Copy

Conclusion
I generally like both Moore and John Turtorro, but I didn’t like this film at all. To sum it up, it’s boring. Yes, it looks and sounds great (the score is decent), but the movie itself is overhyped. You’ve been warned.

Greetings,

If you like her than see Gloria Bell Craig. Yes, it's a slow burn but, not as abysmal as Dave reports. He's just getting grumpy in his old age.. ::)

Regards,

For the record, my wife hated it more than I did and my daughter couldn't finish it.
