Klipsch vs Elac question

Klipsch vs Elac question
« on: October 05, 2018, 09:12:30 AM »
I currently am using the left and right speakers from the Onkyo HT 540. I've had these for about nine years now and am somewhat happy with the sound. I'm looking to upgrade to a 3.0 and then once I move in a year or two to a 5.1.2 system. I live in a pretty small NYC apartment with thin walls and floors hence the no subwoofer. I will be using this for 99% movies\games and 1% music. I have an 55in LG B7A 6-7ft away from the couch and my living room is 11 x 13 that opens into a 9 x 6.5 kitchen. My entertainment center shelf has a max height of 7.6 inches with no space to wall mount so unfortunately that eliminates the SVS Prime center and the Elac C6.2.

If I think my current Onkyo sounds okay and I have never heard anything else, do you think the Elac Debut 2.0\Klipsch Reference would be a good enough upgrade or should I go for the Reference Premiere? I will probably not be upgrading for another 5-10 years after this. Thanks for the help!

I have it narrowed down between the below 3 brands/models:

Elac b6.2
Elac c5.2

Klipsch R-51M
Klipsch R-52C

Klipsch RP-500M
Klipsch RP-500C

I do not believe I have ever listened to the Elac speakers, so I can't comment a whole lot. The Elac 6.2 will probably have better sound quality and the Klipsch RP-500M better dynamics. If not pushing system real hard, I would lean toward the Elac. If you like to push it hard, then Klipsch.

I have the Klipsch Rp160Ms, and Rp150Ms, and they sound great to me for what they cost...whether I am driving them with my Nobsound 50wpc amps or my Yamaha Pro p2500s amps. I picked mine up off or eBay as open box units from an authorized seller for $300 a pair in cherry.
Marantz av8805a, 3 K402MEHs, 4 Klipsch RP150Ms, MINIDSP DDRC88M, 1 7 channel woofer amp & heights, 3 Icepower amps, Denafrips Athena & Pontus ii, Lumin U1 mini, 2 Yamaha P2500s, Monoprice speaker wire, and XLR cables, 2 Furman filters, ProJect RPM 1.3 Carbon Turntable,  Zappiti Reference, Panasonic ub820, LG 86"" 4k fp

Elac! I went to best buy to listen to some of the Klipsch they had and it was very empty sounding. I never got to actually listen to Elac but went for it from all the reviews. They sound incredible!
