That looks very interesting, specially as a OPPO competition.
Personally i loved OPPOs players, but skipping the streaming capability, and the lack of firmware upgrades to improve on the existing streaming compatibility in the older players makes me think this is a more complete solution, specially for a projector setup.

Is the only difference between this and the UB820 on the audio side ( like the Oppo 203 vs the 205 ) ? Seems like it.

Nice model comparison. I'll be checking out the UB820 as a replacement for my UB900. I don't need the extra bells and whistles of the UB9000.

Oppo prices their 205 model $750 higher than the 203.    I expect Panasonic will price the 820 and 9000 similarly.

That's a lot of money to get analog audio.   There is no difference between the 203 and 205 with regard to HDMI audio.

the UB9000 will be around 850$ cheaper than the OPPO 205 here in Denmark.

Has anyone tried to play a 3d movie from a harddrive?

Did anyone have any audio problems with the panasonic 9000?

The unit’s video wass directly connected to a JVC 9000 and the audio directly  to a Krell 707.  Of course, we followed the directions in the manual.

At first, there was no sound when the audio and video HDMI were both used, but when we removed the video plug we often got sound for just a moment.  We changed the wiring, in case it could be that, but we often got sound at the beginning of a disc and then none.  Simply, we occasionally get sound on a Dolby D setting or introduction to a disc, but NOTHING on a DTS MA.

Anyone have this kind of trouble?

Barry, it could be an HDMI handshake issue. Is there a way for you to run a test?

Try turning the player on first then the preamp. If that doesn't change anything, try powering on the preamp first and then the player.

If none of that works, look into the HDMI settings in the player. Maybe you can assign one HDMI output as video and the other for audio only.

That might be the culprit !

I would like to think that we have moved past HDMI issues but I still hear about them popping up on new equipment from time to time.

Check that you have the HDMI (VIDEO) Output Mode set to its default "Auto" and HDMI (AUDIO) Output Mode set to its default "Audio Only".

I run audio to my Denon and video to my Lumagen with no issues, so who knows. But no - HDMI was designed to haunt your system with " ghosts in the machine ". :-[

Most maybe aware of some 4k discs freezing up while playing Dolby vision, If that happens just switch the Dolby vision off in the player and let it play as HDR. Midway (2019) it freezes up and I have to remind myself when that disc gets played.
