Well, before we get started, here’s a trivia question: on the pilot to the twilight zone who was the narrator? It was not Rod Sterling.
First, this is another BLACK AND White Desilu production. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, It looks fantastic in black-and-white. And it sounds great too. It really does look like it was made yesterday as if this was one for the angels.
The Twilight Zone remains as one of the best written television shows of all time. The complete set has five seasons of the show. The fourth season is one hour. The other seasons are 30 minutes. These episodes are in a world of their own.
But I give up on one thing. These stories are incredible and I don’t know how to summarize them in a little review. When I started listing my favorites, they were only like 20 or 30 of them. and If you’re not familiar with the show, I don’t wanna give away any of the surprises that you got every week. This really is a mandatory series for
My collection. And if you have time enough, at last, it should be in yours.
Once upon a time we had to see these with commercials, but it’s a good life to have these commercial free, it’s just totally compelling. In fact I keep the set in walking distance to my home theatre to pop in an episode every now and then, regardless of the lateness of the evening. I love having it in physical media, I am able to serve it manually.
Oh, Desi Arness is the narrator. And he and Lucy appear in many of the special commercials that they show because this was on Desilu theater.
In the extras, Rod Sterling is shown announcing the next week’s programs, which was on the original prints. There are commentaries for the episodes, commercials, re-edited episodes, promos, interviews, Emmy acceptances, interviews and so much more. The after hours of the extras shows that when it comes to this sort of series on TV, there is no time like the past.
I give This is my highest rating. So many of these episodes reflect where we are in the present. But the whole truth is that no matter how old they get this show will never be out of date or obsolete.
