From the Arrow Video press release:
On September 9, the Japanese blockbuster Proof of the Man is released for the very first time outside of Japan for the home video market. The international murder mystery from director Junya Sato (Manhunt) unites two of the biggest actors of Japanese cinema: Toshiro Mifune (Seven Samurai) and Yusaku Matsuda (The Game Trilogy). The Limited Edition Blu-ray features a brand new transfer sourced from a new 4K restoration by Kadokawa and hours of special features.
Police Detective Munesue (Yusaku Matsuda) investigates the stabbing death of a visiting New Yorker in a Tokyo luxury hotel. The main clues on the body are a straw hat and a book of poetry. The detective is also dealing with a hit and run investigation involving the son of a powerful politician (Toshiro Mifune) and fashion designer (Mariko Okada, Tampopo). Ultimately, his journey leads him to New York City, where he teams up with the NYPD’s Ken Shuftan (George Kennedy, Cool Hand Luke) to get to the truth.
Special features include brand new audio commentary; a brand new video introduction; a brand new filmed discussion with critics and biographers; original theatrical trailers, an image gallery; and an illustrated collector’s booklet.
