The unbearable weight of massive talent 4k UHD
« on: June 19, 2022, 09:17:41 AM »
Movie - 4/5
Picture - 4.75/5
Sound - 3/5

I didn’t know anything about this movie going in. But was quickly drawn in after the about 10 minutes of character introductions. Movie didn’t take itself seriously and was a lot of fun! One aspect of “self visualization” was a bit annoying and could have been left out. But otherwise was def a fun and cool movie.

Nicolas cage was great as himself and Pedro pascal was awesome.

Could it have been better. Yes but that wasn’t the point of the movie. Good presentation the image was CRISP the sound was adequate but nothing special as far as atmos goes.

Def worth a. Look

Agreed on all points, although I'd rate the overall movie at a little less generous 3/5.

We watched the Bluray rental, and the picture was absolutely gorgeous; I can only image how it might have looked in 4K, but the colors were vibrant, and the movie really popped.  The Atmos soundtrack was nothing special, but dialog was clear.

The one thing that didn't work for me was the musical score.  It often leaned towards the cutey/jaunty side of things, and didn't really fit the tone or context of the movie.

I will say Cage makes some of the most unusual movie choices of any actor out there, some of which is touched upon in this movie.
