If they were just as good as native 4K chips, Digital Projection could save a lot of money and use these rather than native 4K DMD's !

Indeed! And regardless, the problem with this chip will never be its ability to resolve detail. It does that extremely well. Problem is contrast, as you guys have already touched on. And in this regard it doesn't just seem to be at a stand-still when compared to previous generations, but has even gone backwards a little?
I am looking forward to seeing what kind of contrast performance Sim2 and other high-end makers can get out of it, though. I'm not exactly expecting Acer, BenQ or Optoma to show off what it's capable of at its best.
