The Daniel Craig Collection (UHD Blu-ray) review

Studio: MGM / Fox
Release Date: October 22, 2019
Rating: PG-13
Films:

Casino Royale: 5/5
Quantum of Solace: 4/5
Skyfall: 5/5
Spectre: 4.5/5

Plot
From his introduction in Casino Royale through to his most recent mission in Spectre, Daniel Craig as Bond has experienced explosive action and adventures while his character crisscrossed the globe in a non-stop quest for justice.

Craig is currently in production on his fifth installment as James Bond in the franchise’s highly-anticipated 25th feature film NO TIME TO DIE from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM), and Universal Pictures International, which is set for U.S. theatrical release on April 10, 2020.

My Thoughts
When Daniel Craig was cast as Bond, I thought he would be a good edition to the cast of actors who have played the iconic role. Little did I know that he’d end up surpassing Connery as the best Bond ever—at least in my book. He brings the right amount of edginess to the role like Connery, but he just takes it one step further.

Most of you have already seen all four of these films and are looking for a rundown on whether the upgrade to 4K is worth the expense. For the most part, yes, it’s worth it when you can get the set for around $40, which is only $10 per movie. The first two films are only minor upgrades over the already stellar looking Blu-rays, but the next two really shine with the HDR treatment and Spectre is the best of the bunch. Unfortunately, the audio is limited to DTS-HD MA 5.1 tracks, which is a bit of a disappointment with DTS:X and Dolby Atmos out there, but as far as lossless 5.1 tracks go, all four of the kick some serious ass.

Video
Casino Royale: 7/10
Quantum of Solace: 7/10
Skyfall: 9/10
Spectre: 10/10

Audio 10/10 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

Special Features:

  • Ported from the Blu-ray Editions

Conclusion
It took me a while to get through all four films, but it was fun to revisit the character and I can’t wait for Craig’s fifth and final film to hit theaters next spring. Hopefully he goes out with a bang before the PC police do their best to ruin the franchise and its iconic character. Recommended for fans.

I only have one review disc on my desk then I can watch what I want to watch for the next 6 weeks or so. The release calendar is pretty light.

I am a huge fan of the James Bond movies and books. The only thing stopping me from getting this set Is that they will probably be putting out the complete James barn run, which will be 25 pictures, in 4K next year. They might also have to include two other movies are they now own which considered part of thE EON collection. Those two movies are Casino Royale from 1968 and never say never again.
