This was released by Universal and it surprised me as I wasn't expecting this kind of catalog title to be released at this stage on the format, but I thought it was pretty cool they did. It's a nice, relaxing movie especially if you're a baseball fan or historian (as I kind of am).
It's a very nicely mastered catalog title. Filmed on 35mm, the grain is nicely intact and well encoded. Detail is pretty good, but it's a bit of a softer looking movie which is kind of in sync with its dreamy atmosphere. Colors are very nicely saturated (although skin tones seemed to push red a bit in dimly lit scenes, but maybe that is how it was intended). Contrast and black levels very solid. The takes on a filmic look. I have to say, Universal has been releasing some nicely remastered catalog titles lately so this is very encouraging.
Audio very solid and dialogue nice and clear.
Highly recommended if you like this movie.
It's also available for a few more dollars as a steelbook (very bottom image).
