JVC Autocal Software V12 calibration for 2019 RS1000/RS2000/RS3000/NX5/NX7/NX9

Hello
no these measurements are not in hcfr even by changing the xyz,
moreover my Red is at 0 so
I don't think that these are values but rather a correction compared
to the standard values, no?
of course the coordonates of color temp is in the hcfr but not a color signal level ?

Nope, they are measurements, not corrections.  The values are shown under < Start Color > one by one as the readings are taken, at which time the corrections have not even been computed.
See the HCFR screenshot which has identical XYZ values as your Autocal screen.  The HCFR CIE diagram should also be the same as the Autocal CIE diagram (Before correction), even though you didn't post it.

my testcali.pdf is in my post 1288 with the autocal cie, you need to download it and I know that the coordinates are found in hcfr it is not my request, my request is in summary why my red has its Z to 0 see my post 1286
sorry for my poor english

It’s perfectly legitimate to have 0 values in the XYZ coordinates:

Ive moved my questions over to this forum since it seems more dedicated to Autocal than the “other” forum.

I watched this video yesterday on youtube and decided to finally look at calibrating my NX9 which Ive had from when they were first released.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXHMl4SVC3E&feature=emb_logo&ab_channel=Youthman

Ive always only used Natural for SDR and are on the new firmware 3.5 for HDR.
As Im no expert on these things to me the picture has always looked spectacular upscaling everything to 4K through madvr on my curved 145” ST 130 microperf screen.
Currently my lamp is on approx. 1000hrs. I use Auto 2 iris and fully open as the blacks are good on the NX9. My room is fully black!

I bought the Spyder X Pro yesterday but now the more I read Im hearing issues so now Im not sure what to do….
  • You cant use the Spyder X Pro for colour, yet the youtube video did gamma and colour and they say the result was fantastic.
  • If I do colour will I make things worse than just leaving my NX9 the way it was from the factory?
  • If I have to use it only for gamma, what do I actually see on the screen if the gamma is corrected, does anyone have a before and after image to see the difference, (not graphs)
  • The new Autocal firmware v1.1 designed for JVC 3.5 apparently has issues with the new update, some say v1.1 is a problem and to use v1.0, what do I do since Im starting green?
  • Has anyone here used the SpyderX Pro for colour and gamma, were the results better than their NX out of the box?

The youtube video makes it sound easy, but the more I read the more I feel this is not for the faint hearted.:(
Ive read the first post from manni but Im still a bit concerned that I might make a mess of my default NX9 settings, since they get wiped after Autocal.

Thank you in advance…

That was just one possible explanation; v1.1 is relatively new so the exact cause of the error is still somewhat speculative. Regardless, if there are two readings as 0 then the gamma calibration result won’t be valid. You’ll likely get colour tints in the dark tones.

Of course, I'm sorry if I implied that "my" solution was THE solution. Clearly, it's not.

You're right, the colours were a bit off. Don't know if that has to do with the software issue or the SpyderX Pro, or both. Anyhow, after the calibration, I did some manual adjustments using HCFR and an i1Display Pro and now I measure near perfect colours and gamma (and it looks great too).

Just wondering if JVC is working on a fix...? I tried contacting JVC directly, but didn't receive any reply.

I am also deciding if I will use my spyder X to calibrate or keep the original projector and keep my 3dlut external calibration which is done with an i1d3.

I compared the results between spyder X and i1d3 on Color HCFR on my PC monitor. The color temperature is practically the same the spyder X requires 2% more green from 0 to 100 IRE. on the other hand it measures 12% more blue from 15 IRE

For the colors there is also a slight difference but the numbers remain in the green so with a good deltaE. I don't think you can see the difference.

But Manni will answer you better than me.

Besides, I also have a question: don't you think that JVC has integrated into the Autocal software a kind of integrated correction matrix to match these differences between a spyder X and a better colorimeter / spectrometer? Because if we compare and we see that there is 12% difference on the blue at 10 IRE compared to i1d3, jvc can corrected it internally. Since there are only 2 compatible devices it seems logical to me.

I wouldnt really have any answers regarding Autocal and the SpyderX Pro here as I came to this thread to find answers. But I too wonder about your question, if the SpyderX Pro was so bad for colour I find it odd that JVC would even recommend to use it. Plus for all the negative comments there are regarding its use for colour, there are plenty of good comments.... It may not look perfect on a graph as the more expensive meters read, but to the eye maybe the results look better that the NX default settings.

I think its a bit like auto, few have perfect results for their rooms say using REW or similar, but the actual sound in the room is spectacular to the ear. Ive seen people chasing their tails for years with trying to get the perfect graph on paper with REW and even with thousands $$$ spent never actually achieve a perfect result. The day I stopped measuring audio and just started to watch and listen to films was the day I actually realised my sound was great anyway... I swore I would never measure again and packed up the microphone for good and sat back and enjoyed.

Went to calibrate my N7 following upgrade to v3.50fw and the number of picture modes has reduced significantly?

Manni - anything new that we should be aware of when calibrating fw v3.50?

The correction matrix is supported but JVC does not seem to describe it in the instructions.  It is in the init.xml file, located in:
C:\Users\"User Name"\AppData\Roaming\JVCKENWOOD\Projector Calibration Software 12
The default file contains only a unity matrix (no corrections); if the user populates the content Autocal make use of it.

It's because JVC in their infinite wisdom decided to restrict User 1-3 to SDR, and User 4-6 to HDR.

Low IRE measurements with the SpyderX are irrelevant.

Autocal Color calibration is measured at 100 IRE for white balance and 100% saturation for primary/secondary colors.

It’s autocal gamma that calibrates the rest of the IRE range for white balance, based on the relative luminance measurements of each color across the IRE range, all based on the 100% IRE reading from color calibration.

Autocal Color calibration consists of only 7 patch measurements. 100% R,G,B,C,M,Y,W.

JVC does not use any built-in correction matrix for the Spyder.

I’m pretty much in the same boat, but I have an i1pro2 on the way here to calibrate color.

Did you buy a new one? I know I probably have to go down that path sooner or later, how much do we have to pay for one?

I wonder why alot of guys that have the i1pro2 actually use the spyder x pro to do gamma, is it easier to use?
