It also features a new scaling mode that is optimized for the full native 4096 x 2160 (17 x 9) resolution of the D-ILA device.

Excellent! So, this will be good for the Panamorph Paladin DCR lens.  8) :)

You were correct when you said that the MSRP's would go up on the new models...

Hopefully the reviews of the DLA-RS1000 are stellar, because the others are out of reach. Either I'm going to have to look for a used/closeout RS540U and hope the audible e-shift noise isn't bothersome (impossible to know without being there in person), or I'll be waiting a good long time before I replace my HD250.

And in all the Sony 4K projectors too - even the least expensive one now.

So aside from JVC & Sony, is there any other activity? I assume we would have heard of something from Epson if there was more than the new 4050. Optoma? BenQ? Anyone? Bueller?

I'll have to double check but i thought I read Epson has some refresh models coming out to replace their current eshifters. Minor improvements,  nothing native 4K.

BenQ has a new pixel shifter too with a laser light engine.

Edit:  I stand corrected. Its LED based, not laser.

I saw the 4050 - that's all that's new from Epson. It was " ok for the price " .  :-\

Did not see the BenQ.

Apparently BenQ wasn't there so the X12000H / HT9060 obviously wasn't there. Looks like an intriguing entry into the DLP XPR camp. I see elsewhere that it claims 98% DCI/P3, uses the Philips Colorspark LED light engine, supports Blu-ray 3D and has a very high quality lens. Of course the ultimate black levels won't match the LCOS contenders but I'm just surprised that it's got 3D support, which I had understood wasn't supported in the XPR chipset so I wonder if there has been an update there.
