Audio Excellence loudspeakers

Saw these at CEDIA last year and liked the product. They are a small form factor, limited range speaker that works very well for AT solutions, due to their shallow depth and small form factor. Though the form factor of these speakers are small, they have high SPL capability and good dynamics.

Being a guy that likes a system that can do clean reference levels, I particularly like the Vertex 2 and Vertex 3. These speakers are designed to be limited bandwidth. So they are designed to be used with a sub covering up to 100hz. The Vertex 2 is capable of doing reference level to 3 meters and the Vertx 3 is capable of doing reference level to 7 meters. The Vertex 2 and 3 are less than 4" deep, so you can recess them in a standard 2x4 wall, using the optional in wall adaptor kit.

The Vertex 1 uses a dome tweeter, while the Vertex 2 and 3 uses a compression driver with conical waveguide. All three models are designed to be used on wall or in wall, so for HT application, they will perform well, since you will not be having to compromise speaker location, like you typically have to do with in room speakers, when placed near a wall.

Audio Excellence also makes subwoofers to pair with their speakers. The subwoofers are designed to mate well with the speakers at 100hz crossover point. The three subs are called Raijuu 1, Raijuu 2 and Raijuu 2A . The Raijuu 1 uses a 12" driver. Raijuu 2 uses an 18" driver in a vented box. Both Raijuu 1 and 2 are passive designs. Raijuu 2A is an active sub using an 18" driver in a vented box. Raijuu 1 will handle 400 watts. Raijuu 2 will handle 1,400 watts and Raijuu 2A have 1,600 watt@8 ohm's on board.

With these speakers and subs, you can have a very clean look in the front of your room. With no speakers or subs showing. That way you do not have anything in your field of vision to establish size. This helps make the screen image more enveloping.

Audio Excellence also manufacturers a range of amplifiers and a DSP crossover to be paired with their speakers and subs. This is a new line that AV Science is picking up. If you would like more information, please call.
