Just downloaded the latest firmware and watched a bit of Maverick, Avatar and Train to Busan - all of which look really good on my RS4100. Think I'll try setting dpad at 2 for a while.

That's what I thought, but Mr. Deering said elsewhere " When I was testing 100223 I was always using DPAD of 1, but the new builds from that are definitely NOT built around a DPAD of 1 and the recommendation is DPAD of 3 or more. If one doesn't mind a touch of clipping now and then, DPAD 2 would probably be okay, but DPAD 1 will definitely have clipping more often. ". 

So things have changed. And, I need to load the new firmware that came out again yesterday!

Ahhh. I just did the new FW from yesterday. I’ll put it thru the paces with diff dpad tomorrow

Ya - I thought it looked pretty bright watching Train From Busan on dpad 1. Maybe too bright.

I agreed with woofer on this. The clarity and brilliance of the image exceed my expectations. Love the change in color scheme for the menu too...a refreshing look. For the first time, Dpad 1 is now very usable in this latest beta, to the point where clipping is minimal and yet still retains the image brilliance throughout. This is indeed "more than better" over 103123 and 111723. I can already see many happy faces.

Beta 030424 - Posted 031724  Fix for autoaspect not triggering in some situations. Fix for some aspect ratios not being positioned correctly in letterbox bottom mode. Many more HDR dynamic tone mapping improvements. Added ZY811 rs232 command to pop up input and aspect on screen. Other small bug fixes.

I changed the "Low range" Transition (Tran) to 9, and I have my ratio for Max Light just over 6x (for our 80 nit Lumgen Demo Theater) at 500.

I am now liking Dyn Pad = 1. I watched my regression test and it looks great.
