I have to do what you're doing - have a second screen so that I can have a bigger 1.78:1 image and that Cima Neve looks to be the one to get. I might not even watch Dunkirk until I get this (I did see it in theaters). Do you drop your second screen down immediately in front of your scope screen or is it closer to the seating position. Can you share a photo of your setup?
Kris, are you now using the 2020 profile in the 4500 in concert with the Lumagen?
How good did your previous projector converge? Mine doesn't converge that well. For example if I see that red is slightly out (say horizontally to the right) and try to move it to the left, before it will disappear from the right it will appear on the left - as if the red pixels are wider than the green. Same for blue.I wish there were test patterns that only had red, blue or green grids so I could check how each primary focuses.
Is the projector in the same location as the last one?I wonder what JVC's tolerances are for this.
yep same exact spot, we just removed the chief mount plate from the old one and popped it right onto the new and hung it right up there. It had 4H hours on it which seemed like a lot but I don't know what their QC time is so that might not mean anything.
Where is the lens in relationship to the screen?
So as I had mentioned I had a strange image artifact that was happening w/ my RS4500. After troubleshooting JVC decided to replace my unit since it was brand new and we had ruled out cabling and other components as the cause and it was brand new. I had my new unit installed two days ago and haven't had much time on it. However I was setting up my screen modes 16:9, 2.35:1, etc and I noticed that when the lens adjust pattern was up that there was little bit of red bleeding out to the left. So I went into the panel alignment and adjusted right one click (from the left side of my screen) and things lined up, but then I walked down the screen to check the rest of the pattern and the red was bleeding out to the right on the right side of the screen. I didn't take pictures b/c I was pressed for time and my projector was probably only on for 10 minutes so it wasn't adequately warmed up either but I was wondering if any of you other owners had to to any panel alignments and if you think it's best I put more hours on the unit before I check again? Before I shutdown I put everything back to 0 in panel alignment so that next time I can let the projector warm-up for 30 minutes before checking. I didn't have this on my prior unit so I am curios if anyone else had to do any panel alignment OTB. I also couldn't dial in the focus well but that was probably due to the insufficient warm-up or at least I hope that's why. If i have another bad unit I am going to lose my mind so was looking for some feedback from others.
I needed a little convergence correction. Using Kris's suggestion ( if you can't see convergence errors from your seat, don't worry about it ), I spent a lot of time turning it on and off with resolution patterns and the video test footage on the R.Masciola's UHD test pattern disc. Bottom line for me was I can't see any resolution hit from using convergence correction on my RS4500, but with correction off I can see the effects of mis-convergence on the actual video test footage from my seat. Plus, both Jeff of Accucal and Chad B. have said it looks good with the convergence correction on. I'm back to watching movies and not test patterns !
I didn't even know there was conversion correction b/c I didn't see any issues with my old projector in that regard. If after a full warm-up I see it again then I will look for it and apply it. Thanks!
