Custom HDR gamma curves using Arve's tool take this projector to an entirely new level. Test runs of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and John Wick 2 on 4K Blu-ray looked amazing - better and brighter, and more punch, and more 3 dimensional. Better blacks and shadow detail. This is a must do for sure. Not a subtle difference. Hats off to Chad B.  :)

I see Kris Deering is selling his Z1/RS4500 .....  The SONY must be impressive if that is what is replacing his Z1/RS4500 ..

Not really -
" Only a coincidence based on timing. I am doing renovations at home that include some work on the theater. IF my JVC sells, I will be getting a 5000ES as I would be putting in a larger screen and possibly a weave/perf, so would need the increase in light. If my projector doesn't sell I plan on trucking along happily, I'm still over the moon on the 4500 in my current setup. "

How do you know, btw?   (wondering if there's a thread I haven't seen).

Thanks, if I had just read a couple more pages to catch up on that thread I wouldn't have had to ask. Sorry and thanks.

I'm more impressed now with Blu-rays. Watched " Drive " again with a friend that wanted to see it, and the clarity and detail looked outstanding. The night scene at the beach even looked better, with amazing shadow detail. Chad B. put some secret sauce in this thing.
