Just when I think my RS4500 can't throw a picture that looks any better, it does. I will say that the scenes I looked at last night with the Lumagen Dynamic Tone Mapping - several in Passengers, and Oblivion - including the dark interrogation scenes with Morgan Freeman in the dark - looked profoundly better to me than without the HDR tone mapping. I'm still surprised how much my RS4500 has evolved over 2 years, with the firmware updates, the Panamorph DCR lens, the Lumagen Radiance Pro and now dynamic HDR tone mapping. It's like having a new and improved projector ! Now if I can get Kris Deering here to recalibrate it, it should take another step up picture wise yet again ! Hey Craig,I think from what you have posted that your H/T with the 4500 and it's other video additions is without doubt "Awesome". Congratulations on such an amazing video system. Terry
Watched " Overlord " again last night with friends. Fun movie. But also top tier demo material on the RS4500. The movie looks ( and sounds ) amazing on this projector. A few gory parts might look a bit too realistic for some people !
Totally agree Craig. Excellent presentation and an entertaining movie.
I swear that movie will break speakers / subwoofers if you aren't careful though !!:-[ The first 10 or 15 minutes really work out the subs for sure !
For those thinking the 4500 would be replaced this fall, I think JVC may have given us a clue. JVC has announced that they are doing another firmware update, adding new features to the RS4500. The 4500 will be getting the new auto tone mapping, the two Panasonic profiles and about 30 new screen codes. I think if JVC was going to bring out a replacement, they would not be adding new features to an end of life model.
Interesting. The firmware update will be welcome. I suppose the notion of no replacement will also be welcome to those who want to get maximum value out of their investment, but it might be disappointing news to those who really want to see this machine with higher contrast.Speaking of contrast, is there any chance this unit suffers from panel degradation the way some Sony models do? I swear my contrast is getting worse, but I can't measure contrast so it could just be my imagination.
Try Ready Player One. It is quite the sub workout.
