Had some friends over to watch " Horse Feathers " and " Duck Soup " ! Fun movies with some great one liners - too many to remember even a fraction of them !

Last night I watched " Ex Machina " in 4K with friends that had never seen the movie. I love this movie ! The 4K version looks cleaner for the most part than the Blu-ray.

I recently watched Kong: Skull Island and The Great Wall  (both in UHD).

Both films looked stunning with The Great Wall the most impressive.  The movies themselves were OK entertainment - very loud action films where the soundtracks are equally impressive.

My wife needed some cheering up last night ( she hit a deer that ran in front of her while she was doing 40mph on her tri bike during the Donner lake Triathlon Sunday - she's pretty beat up ), so we watched one of her favorite movies - " Fletch ". Chevy Chase is still a hoot in this. Geena Davis was an unknown back then.

Ok I will now 100% never listen to Ralph Potts for reviews. He just cuts and pastes reviews from other discs.

His review for boss baby and trolls is literally verbatim for the Blu-ray Disc.  He even forgot to change the "trolls coming to bluray" to read boss baby lmao. Joke

I had previously rented The Great Wall UHD disc. I bought a copy from Best Buy yesterday for under $20.

It is a gorgeous film to watch with all the brightly colored armor worn by the soldiers.   The soundtrack's bass is also outstanding; especially the drums and the "black powder" explosions outputted from my dual 18 inch subs.

Too bad it's still mostly just another creature feature.

I also thought Ghost in the Shell was better than the reviews I have read.   But then I have never seen the original animated version to compare to.

I didn't find it overly dark as some have complained.  But I was disappointed with the soundtrack; both the lack of bass and the low recording levels.  I ended up raising the volume 3 decibels above my normal setting (-9 instead of -12/-13) just to hear conversations clearly.

I plan on picking up Ghost In The Shell when the price calms down. I've never seen the original either.

We watched Ghost in the Shell, and it was very good...the only complaint I had was that the dark scenes were darker than I recall they were in the theater.
