Watched magnificent 7 4k this morning. Greta movie. Outstanding atmos. But was SUPER dark. Couldn't get my picture correct I even tossed on the reg bluray. And same thing. Maybe it's meant to be that way. But too bad with Denzel being in all black
Are you watching with HDR, and what projector ? I have this 4K disc coming ( with Sully ). If the Blu Ray is equally dark, I'd say it's the transfer. Sort of like the first half of " Star Trek Beyond " is somewhat dark.
yes on the rs400but after reading reviews...the black level is really dark (obviously in the nighttime scenes) so i guess its the transfer
watched Ben-hur 2016...wasnt that bad...the picture was OUTSTANDING...rivaled 4k UHD to be honest, sound was great tootonight will be Miss Peregrin home for peculiar children 4k
I can't get myself to watch the remake. The original however, looks outstanding on Blu Ray. Quite the remaster. I imagine they have a 4K master from that work ready to go for a 4K version !
That 4K remaster is the one I'm waiting for!! Can't wait to see Charlton in full glory... Quick story: We visited Rome (business trip) in the late '90s -- staying a week in a palazo near the Circus Maximus. On the first day walking to the Metro, I passed a wall before turning into the Circus Maximus. Immediately in front of me was a thundering, dust spewing chariot charging right at me! Caused a huge leap in my heart as I was thrown back 2000 years! Took a few seconds to adjust and realize that I would not be hit -- and come back to the present age...
Watched Into Darkness followed by Beyond in UHD BT.2020 SDR again in succession.I can't understand why the new director made the first portion of Beyond so dark. Sometimes I think it is just because he thought to himself... If we darken these scenes, look how bright and luminous all the control panels appear. Or maybe it was a colorist who did.I had to increase brightness 3 clicks and then back it off again once they got down to the planet.
