Watched " Manchester By The Sea " with my wife last night. Interesting, well done drama. I liked the way the back story unfolded through flashbacks. Stunning cinematography !

Watched " Birdman " last night with my wife ( who had never seen it ). 2nd time I've watched it. I think it's a really interesting film, and my wife liked it. It's different, and sometimes different is good !

I had read great things about The Jungle Book, in 3D, for quite a while, and had been watching prices.  It finally dropped a little, and I picked it up.

Watched it tonight with my wife, and holy cow, those reviews were right on the money!!  The details, the color, the 3D effect, were all incredible.  The sound track matched it as well.  The movie/story were excellent, with great humor provided by some excellent voice-overs.  Highly recommended!

One of the most immersive, impressive audio-visual experiences I've had in my theater to date!

The wife and I watched " Fences " last night. Really good drama, great acting. Incredible looking Blu-ray - one of the best pictures I've seen. I like Denzel in just about anything though. Time to watch " Flight " and " Unstoppable " again.  :)

We watched Why Him? (4k HDR) last night.  Incredible picture - probably the best I've seen yet on my projector.  Detail was incredible with great depth and very natural colors and highlights.

Movie was very enjoyable as well (and Zoey Deutch is very easy on the eyes!).

Watched John Wick (1st one) tonight.  Made a mistake and put in the regular bluray and didn't notice until after the movie finished. I had seen the movie before but loved it just as much the second time.

I then checked out the 4k version and thought it was absolute crap.  Nowhere as detailed as the bluray and so murky and dim - like I was wearing sunglasses.  This with my projector firing on high with the dynamic range on my Panasonic raised... what a disappointment.

I'll need to throw the Blu-ray on and see what's going on. I doubt this will be the case with John Wick 2.

I watched John Wick 2 afterwards.  It was much better.  At the beginning it's VERY dark with extreme HDR highlighting which made me squint because of the brightness (headlights, neon signs) but struggle to actually discern cars etc (basically the action on screen).  I thought "oh boy here we go again" but the movie gets much better as it goes along and the detail in the blacks are pretty impressive.   I turned on dynamic laser for this one (and it performed flawlessly) if only to tone down the highlights a bit as they are unnaturally bright.  For example, indoor scenes were hard to watch because the lighting (lamps in the room etc) were SO bright. My eyes were wiped out after seeing this one.  It's impressive but unnatural and a little weird - I might have to check a few key scenes on the bluray to see how they compared because it looks to me like someone got carried away with the HDR color grading on this one.  People rave about this and I get why, but I almost wanted a different gamma curve so that the highlights weren't burning my retinas  but where the dark scenes wouldn't lose contrast.

Best Buy delivered my Steelbook UHD versions of Fifth Element and Leon today.   I watched Fifth Element tonight; in HDR of course.  I wasn't disappointed.   Sharper than I expected with vibrant color and some searing highlights.   It was like watching to it for the first time.  The Atmos soundtrack was the icing on the cake.

Watched " Being John Malkovich " last night - i'd had the Criterion Blu-ray for a while, but I haven't watched this film since i had it on HD DVD. I forgot how funny and insane this movie is. My guests were doubled over laughing at times !

Make sure you watch Fate of the Furious when you can turn up the volume.  The low frequency bass in the DTS:X MA soundtrack is great.

I rented Blue and have to agree with others that it has probably has the most realistic skin tones I have ever seen from any Blu Ray and probably not bested by any UHD Blu Ray yet.   The spaghetti looked delicious as well.  The movie is 3 hours long!

Fifth Element looked incredible.

Leon looked good as well, but not that much better than the special edition Blu Ray that was created from a 4K master.   I am sure others will say it looks great, but it didn't grab and hold my attention like Fifth Element did.
