Next to be completed are some new DIY 2 way Synergy horns. The first one will be a 2' x 2' x 2' version with EV DH1A drivers and (2) 15" woofers. The final version is anticipated to be as big as 4' x 4' x 3', but we will see how the smaller versions work out. ;)

Strange they all worked yesterday... I just checked Photobucket, and they are down for maintenance...hopefully the pics will come back OK. If they don't I will load up via another method.

The pics show up for me. :) Not that I plan on changing my speakers, but I am interested in the synergy horn build. Nice job on the theater. When you move to a 4K projector, it will be a big step up over the Panny.

Thanks Mike, the pics problem was that Photobucket was down when people were looking. I can't wait to get the Synergy horns built! I wish i was still working so I could afford a 4K projector. I will have to wait until they are under $3k for sure unless I come into a lot of cash.

Thanks, it is still a work in progress though as I want to change some things in the room. I live in Concord California (Close to Oakland).

Concord, CA is a bit of a hike for me... :(

I do get to San Francisco from time to time on business...I would like to check out your room on my next visit!

Thanks! To me...going as big as you can fit on the wall is the only way to go, as I want theater, not TV size, as it is an entirely different experience to me.

I caught a lot of flack when building mine with "it is too big and you will get eyestrain". Since it was built everyone that has come over has said "the picture size is very immersive", and no one has experienced eye strain. If I ever move...the next HT will have a full wall screen again.

I can attest to this! I had the ae8000 then moved to the JVS rs400....HUGE difference

Yes, this can happen when you embed an image which is stored on a different website, you now have the ability to attach the images as attachments to your post and when someone clicks on the image thumbnail it will popup to a full screen display... however, you'll only be able currently to attach two files per post, but that number can be changed if the owner wants to accommodate requests to do so

The Epson 5040ub is under $3K - talk to Mike G.  I just bought one from him yesterday. :)

Great room BTW!  Love the huge screen.

Thanks, but right now even that is way over what I can afford. I might have to get a job while I am retired to be able to afford new pieces of equipment.

any update on the speakers?

also get rid of dirac and you are 2/3 the way to a real upgrade the PJ :)

We will be working on the speakers later today...as far as getting rid of the Dirac, it is not going to happen as it made a huge difference over Audyssey and YPAO. The only room tune software I will run at this point in time is Dirac. Once you have tried Audyssey or YPAO, Dirac it is a no brainer IMO as to what is the best room tune software. When I can afford to get a 4k projector that will give me 3000+ lumens... I will upgrade the projector I will, but I don't anticipate that happening for at least another year or two.

you do realize I have had dirac for over 2 years :)

imho id would rather have the PJ (also I had the exact same PJ your running...and all the jvc's blow it away) than a slight upgrade (debatable even in blind tests) in sound

I understand...right now my priority is to get my new speakers made (hopefully I will be able to do it for what I am selling my old ones for). The new speakers should take me up to the next level in audio (hopefully my last main channel speakers). I would like to have a better projector, but I have no problem waiting until I can afford to upgrade it. I might even build a curved screen next, since it will not be as expensive as buying a new projector, and would correct my geometry. We have 4k in our living room, but currently have no source to play 4k.

At 60 years old, my wife says my hearing is going from too much loud music and movies. But my eyesight sure isn't. So I'm always trying to upgrade my projector. My audio sounds pretty good now!

NP, I have talked with a local fab shop and they said about $1k to make the 2 15' long rails for the top and bottom.

Well it was nice while it lasted. We have started to dismantle the HT, as we are selling our house, and moving to Mexico, so now I am working on designing a new HT for the new home. We are looking at building the new house out of clay brick around a new HT room. The new room will have a ceiling of at least 12', brick ceiling with exposed wood beams, a concrete floor, 30' or longer, and at least 20' wide. I will be taking my acoustic wall panels, and will be building more panels, and bass traps. I will hopefully have the other 2 speakers ready by the time we move, I hopefully will have the amp up, and running in the next week or two. I will start a new thread called Negatron II for the new build.
