Title: Godzilla Minus Zero. A non-spoiler review

“Hell is empty and all the devils are here.” – William Shakespeare

If this is the type of movie that you like, you will like this one. I’ll give it a grade of good to very good mostly because of the visual effects.

I saw this movie on Tuesday in an IMAX theater with great surround sound. The picture was just terrific. It was wonderful to see monsters, airplanes, total destruction, and landscapes in IMAX.

The movie takes place in 1049. In the beginning, a monster named Ghidorah destroys a lot of Tokyo and this apparently vanquished. Except he decides to mutate at this point.

Unexpectedly, Godzilla, who was thought to have been destroyed, regenerates on the other side of the country.  The humans plot to have the two of them meet and fight, and therefore one would be destroyed, and one would be weakened. Well, if that had worked out, it would’ve only been an hour movie. The monsters would need again and the humans would have to plot to destroy them.

Now there is no real heavy plot between the romantic couple and those that would destroy the monsters. You kinda can guess where it’s going. So you’re just kind of sit back at an IMAX theater and watch total destruction.

Again, for a movie of this type, it was a lot of fun and there’s nothing here to take seriously. Although it was ironic that I was watching two hideous creatures fighting each other on election day.

Barry,

Did you see Godzilla Minus One?  Just wondering how this one compares.  The earlier one was much more that a giant monster movie; it would be a shame if this was little more than spectacle.  (Even if it is great eye and ear candy.)

a very good question. Godzilla Minus One was definitely a better picture, with a better plot. but I found myself enjoying this movie more than I expected mostly because of the IMAX and how it looked.
