Title: The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad
Post by: Barry on July 25, 2026, 06:57:07 PM
The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad 4k

This is the fifth movie I had ever seen had ever seen and one of the most important. Fantasia was my first film and with it I fell in love with movies, animation, music, and Mickey Mouse. The seventh voyage had me fall in love with action, adventure, and fantasy. And Ray Harryhausen.

I love this movie.

The story is a simple one, but it is wonderfully told, especially if you’re less than 10 years old. Sinbad rescues and evil magician on an island of cyclops (cyclopses?).

There is a wonderful scene near the beginning where Sinbad brings his fiancé, a princess, home to her kingdom. They’re the magician transforms a woman into a half human half half snake and they do a dance! When I first saw this, it was incredible and it remains incredible. The princess is transformed into a doll size person and Sinbad has to return to that magical island where he rescued the magician to seek a cure. Once there, he must confront dragons, huge birds, and must have a sword fight with a skeleton. The action, and old fashion frame by frame animation is almost non-stop.

The colors here are outstanding, they look so much better than they did on the Blu-ray. The images are also sharper. It is a wonderful restoration of a movie that’s almost 70 years old.  The  5.1 soundtrack is wonderful too.

Highly recommended, especially if part of you is still 10 years old.

Thanks for the write up, Barry.

I have fond memories of watching this as a kid as well.  Glad to see that they did justice to the source material.  Did you have a chance to check out any of the extras?

Not yet. It’s on a separate blu ray. Give me a week or so
