The Accidental Tourist in blu-ray
They don’t make movie like this anymore, and I miss them.
Accidental Tourist is just an excellent movie that has no space ships, exploding bombs or any action-adventure sequences.
William Hurt (Macon) and Kathleen Turner (Sarah) play couple who have lost a 12 year old child and they become lost themselves. Their marriage is dissolving. Macon makes a living traveling: and writing book and articles about how to travel. His time away from home adds to the distancing with his wife, who wants a divorce.
Macon meets a quirky dog trainer played brilliantly by Geena Davis, who won an Academy award for this role. (The others should have win also!) Their involvement grows and it is compelling to watch as she pulls him out of his depression and as Sarah fights to get him back.
The picture quality is excellent and the colors fit the tone of the picture very well. There is a softness to the image that fits right in. The original stereo sound is presented in DTS-HD MA 2.0 and is perfect.
I miss movies like this, a quiet study of people. I haven’t decided whether to give it a “very good” or “excellent” rating.

I think there are still movies like this being made, they are just not as high profile any more. The "blockbusters" that you mention get most of the spotlight and attention.
Here's a few just off the top of my head that I've seen fairly recently that I'd say fit into this smaller, character driven type scale: Wicked Little Letters, Life of Chuck, The Outfit. I'm sure David & Scott (and others) can name more.

Yes, these kinds of movies are still being made today but they do not get the kind of attention that big studio blockbusters do. Admittedly, this isn't my favored genre, but I've still reviewed a number of these that should qualify, and they're all quite good:

OK, that last one is just there to see if you're paying attention. ;)
You'll notice that almost all of these were from the library, so they are lower profile titles that don't get much attention at all, which is unfortunate.
David has reviewed many more of the titles that would fall into this genre; he can probably easily list another ten or more that he's reviewed over the past few years.

The Boys in the Boat
Those were off the top of my head. Not blockbusters, but entertaining movies that don't have spaceships and explosions. But Barry's point is still valid--these types of films don't seem to get much play in theaters and generally find an audience when they hit streaming services. Part of it is our own fault as well--I generally won't go to the movie theater to see these--I prefer to watch them at home. In the past few years, I've only gone to the movies a few times and it's always for a Blockbuster. I guess I'm part of the problem ;)

People study type films don’t need the full experience (to general public)
