Plot
Superman (2025), directed by James Gunn, reimagines the iconic hero's origin as Clark Kent (David Corenswet), a Kansas-raised reporter at the Daily Planet, balances his mild-mannered life with his destiny as Kal-El, the last survivor of Krypton. Teaming with sharp-witted colleague Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Clark confronts the cunning Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), whose envious hatred of Superman threatens the citizens of Earth with his diabolical plan to tarnish the alien. Amid epic clashes and personal revelations, Superman discovers what it truly means to be humanity's champion.
My Thoughts
James Gunn's Superman (2025) launches the new DCU with an optimistic bang, infusing the Man of Steel's mythos with humor, heart, and blockbuster spectacle. The first act crams in a ton—Kryptonian lore, Smallville flashbacks, Planet office politics, and Luthor's early plotting—which can feel overwhelming and rushed, like it's trying to service too many comic book stories at once. But once the film gets going, it's a fun ride.
David Corenswet nails Clark's boyish awkwardness and Superman’s noble resolve, making the icon feel fresh and relatable without overplaying the earnestness. The new Lois Lane is excellent too—Rachel Brosnahan brings a perfect mix of likability, with her quick smiles and banter, and an edge when needed. When she interviews Superman, you can see her professionalism take over with hard-hitting questions that puts her boyfriend on the defensive. Hoult’s Luther is downright scary as the intellectual menace to Superman’s brawn.
The Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray release features a jaw-dropping 2160p HEVC transfer with Dolby Vision HDR, pulled from a native 4K DI. The video quality is impeccable, delivering reference-grade sharpness in every soaring cape flutter, gleaming chrome on Luthor's toys, and sweat-glistened close-ups. Colors explode in the signature Superman palette with plenty of depth that turns Metropolis flyovers into immersive vistas.
The Dolby Atmos soundtrack is a dynamic force, clocking in just shy of perfection with enveloping immersion that powers the heroic feats. Vocals stay razor-clear over David Fleming's score, height effects add vertigo to high-altitude spins and laser zaps and surrounds whip debris and echoes with pinpoint accuracy. Bass hits hard on impacts and rumbles and I really enjoyed the score, but maybe I’m biased since I know one of the composers who worked on the film.

Conclusion
Superman Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray is a visual and sonic stunner, with flawless video that honors every heroic hue and near-elite Dolby Atmos audio that lifts the action sky-high. The film lands a solid score as an entertaining reboot—stuffed opener aside, it's a blast once it gets going, powered by Corenswet's spot-on Superman, Brosnahan's edged Lois, and Hoult’s obsessively driven Luthor. Recommended for fans.

I felt it tried to be a little too funny. But was fun watch reguardless

It's an interesting path that Gunn is carving out. From what I've read, this Superman movie leans toward the family friendly side of things. In contrast, Peacemaker season two is decidedly not family friendly, even though it picks up right after the Superman movie.
It's an odd direction for Gunn's DC universe.
