DEBUTS ON 4K ULTRA HD DISC IN A LIMITED EDITION STEELBOOK AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 23RD
SYNOPSIS
It's a new night for terror - and a new dawn in horror movie-making when special-effects genius Tom Savini (creator of the spectacularly gruesome make-up in FRIDAY THE 13TH and CREEPSHOW) brings his twisted take to this colorful remake of George A. Romero's 1968 cult classic. Seven strangers are trapped in an isolated farmhouse while cannibalistic zombies wage a relentless attack, killing (and eating) everyone in their path. The classic for the ‘90s: graphic, gruesome and more terrifying than ever!

As much as I respected the work of Tom Savini, I skipped this one when it first came out, not seeing the point of remaking an absolute classic. If memory serves, it was done primarily to bring in cash from the original that was plagued by rights issues and left the makers without any real profits to speak of, despite its unexpected success, both critically and financially.
In the years since, the remake has been looked at more favorably than when it was originally released. In addition to a new edit with an Atmos soundtrack, the package if filled with tons of new extras.
It may be the perfect time to take a fresh look at this title.
