Thanks for taking the time to read this-:-X
I am looking for other "options" or an "equivalent" for VPR EBPU2010, 10.000 a.l. 4K Enhancement resolution (or an equivalent projector). I've gone down the path of researching other brands and price points, but it seems to me that the combination of 4K at 10,000 lumens is the basis for the cost or rental fee of any unit. Additionally the term "equivalent" in my mind speaks to the 4k and 10,000 lumen side of the specs.
My supervisor is curious if there is any other achievable way perhaps via lenses, other hardware or other trade "magic" that can do and suffice the "equivalent" request but at a lower price point (below $8K would be more ideal).
We are projecting a 4k video via 4k media player, roughly 20 feet with a minimum screen width of 16ft.
Thanks for your input in advance-
J

Hello and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, your request for both high lumens and 4k resolution will be hard to find within your budget even if you were to consider B stock or used. If 2k were to work then that would open the door to a larger offering on the used market at 8 to 10,000 lumens. For instance, you should be able to find an NEC 1100L laser or NC900 that will light up your screen size with no eye strain.
I also think you should be able to find a used LCD projector with plenty of light but minus the 4k within your budget.
Is your source true 4k or upconverted, and if true 4k is it movie content where 4k may not be so important as most movies tend to have a softer look. If your source is computer graphics then you will clearly benefit from a 4k panel.
Let us know how you make out. If you find a projector and have questions before you make the purchase, feel free to chime in and we will be glad to help.
