Plot
What if a random text message led to the love of your life? In this romantic comedy, dealing with the loss of her fiancé, Mira Ray (Priyanka Chopra) sends a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number…not realizing the number was reassigned to Rob Burns’ (Sam Heughan) new work phone. A journalist, Rob is captivated by the honesty in the beautifully confessional texts. When he’s assigned to write a profile of megastar Celine Dion (playing herself in her first film role), he enlists her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person…and win her heart.
My Thoughts
This is not a film I’d usually request, but my better half is a huge fan of Sam Heughan due to his role in Outlander, so I knew it was something I’d have to suffer through. Low and behold, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Sure, it’s predictable and a bit cheesy, but it’s a fun story with extremely likeable characters, especially the supporting cast of characters that include Sofia Barclay, Russell Tovey, and Lydia West. The screenplay is a bit predictable—like most films in this genre—but the comedic interludes keep it light-hearted and fun and the way they included Dion in the story is quite creative.
The presentation is excellent, which is usually the case with Sony. The digitally-shot production features a strong color palette, plenty of depth, and is razer-sharp. The DTS-HD MA 5.1 track has clear dialog that’s rooted in the center speaker and the surround speakers are used to provide a good mix of atmospheric effects. The highlight is the music, which is fantastic, especially if you like Dion’s.

Conclusion
While this wouldn’t have been the first movie I’d choose to watch, I’m glad Mrs. Reviewer insisted on me requesting it. We had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed all of the characters and I’m sure it’s something we’ll watch again in the future when we’re looking for some good laughs. Recommended for fans of the genre.

Thanks for the positive review.
I love it when films like this surprise us and exceed any preconceived expectations.
Sounds like a nice add to the list of movies for when the wives ask for something meant for them.
